How this is counted
- Models kept. Models from that lab with answers in the collection. Labs with fewer than three are left out, as are labs with nothing retired and nothing sourced, and stealth models under invented names.
- Retired. OpenRouter no longer serves the model under any name, the same rule as everywhere in the museum. A lab can still serve a model on its own API after OpenRouter drops it, and the reverse. A model OpenRouter never listed is not counted as retired.
- Lifespans. Each line runs from the model's release month to the middle of the month OpenRouter last listed it, on an axis from January 2023 to 10 Oct 2026. Older models start at the left edge. Many listings were last seen on the same day, 20 Feb 2026, so for those the record noticed late and the true line may be shorter. “Served, median” is the median of those spans in whole months.
- Notice. Days from a lab announcing a retirement to the retirement, for retirements the lab's own deprecation page dates, drawn against its published minimum where it has one. These are the lab's API retirements, not OpenRouter's.
- Policy, weights and commitments. Only what the lab itself has published. Checked on 10 Oct 2026. “Nothing recorded yet” means nothing has been sourced here, not that the lab has nothing.
